I just prefer to use a handwritten journal for posterity’s sake or Day One for the fact that it is specifically meant to be used as such. That’s what Asana is for.ĭon’t get me wrong – you could do this. I also really like the OCR capabilities it has so that I can quickly search for words that may appear in images I’m using for a piece – or images i’ve taken to spur an idea for a piece.īut you won’t catch me using Evernote to manage tasks, projects or goals. I prefer to use Evernote over Instapaper for that kind of thing because it allows me to capture thoughts, ideas and notes on the clipping in a way that is better suited to my workflow. That said, I do throw links and clippings in here for research purposes, say for any articles I’m working on for this weblog or Lifehack. I don’t use it to manage tasks or projects at all. I don’t use Evernote as a GTD tool…entirely. 1īut before I go there, let’s discuss something else… It really opened up my eyes as to what this powerful software-as-a-service solution could do for me on so many levels – so before I get into how I use Evernote, do yourself a favour and grab yourself a copy of his book. I’ve had Evernote on all of my Macs (and iOS devices) since it first came to market, but I never really dove into using it too much until my friend Brett Kelly delivered the goodness that is known as Evernote Essentials.
